WhatsApp has a new app for Windows. Finally works without a smartphone!

WhatsApp has long been possible to use on a PC in the web interface format, but this method was far from the most convenient. The messenger window often lagged, and messaging and other basic operations required a constant connection to the phone. And now the torment of users is over – a full-fledged WhatsApp application for Windows has finally left the beta test stage and is now available for download to everyone.

The main advantage of the client is the speed of work. To do this, the developer wrote software almost from scratch under Windows and removed the need for constant synchronization with a smartphone. Recall that the old version was built on the basis of the Electron framework, which was a graphical shell of a web page. From that and the imperfect work of the client.

The desktop version for Windows can already be downloaded from the official Microsoft Store. The macOS version is currently in development.

After installing the application on a PC, you need to launch the messenger on your phone, go to the “Advanced options” menu and go to the “Connected devices” section. There, select “Connect a new device” and point your phone’s camera at the QR code that will appear on the computer screen.
