Google kicked off the first day of the I/O conference on a grand scale, not only unveiling the Pixel 6a and announcing the Pixel 7/7 Pro for the fall, but also showing off the long-awaited Pixel Watch smartwatch, advanced Pixel Buds Pro headphones, and the first Pixel Tablet in a long time.
With the exception of the headphones, these were not full-fledged announcements, but the so-called “announcements of announcements” – the company will tell you more about the watch later, and the Pixel Tablet is generally expected only in 2023.
Headphones received a design familiar from Pixel Buds, but got additional holes for microphones, which are responsible for active noise reduction and transparency mode. As expected, Pixel Buds Pro received support for spatial audio, which had previously been shone in the Android 13 beta code.
Headphones will receive it not immediately at the start of sales, but later with a separate update. The Pixel Buds Pro have a battery life of 7 hours with noise cancellation and 11 hours without it. The start of sales is scheduled for July 21 at a price of $199.
The long-suffering Pixel Watch, which has been in development since 2018, has finally seen the light of day, confirming all the recent leaks and photos of the prototype forgotten in a bar. The watch was created in partnership with Fitbit, which was previously acquired by Google, so it will boast advanced algorithms for monitoring health, sleep and sports.
Round design, interchangeable bracelets, Wear OS, deeper integration of Google apps and services, smart home control – that’s all that became known about them after the presentation. Google will tell the rest of the details gradually until the fall. The watch will hit the market with the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.
Google’s latest announcement was the Pixel Tablet based on the Tensor chip. There are no details about the device, but we can take a look at its design. The release of the tablet is scheduled for 2023.
