The iPhone 14 introduced today is a disappointing novelty. For the first time in history, Apple has so strongly separated the base models and versions with the prefix “Pro”. Therefore, buyers who want really new technologies will have no choice but to shell out a tidy sum for the iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max.

Specifications iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max

Like the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, the firmware will also be available in 6.1- and 6.7-inch versions. However, here the “monobrow” will be replaced by a new oval neckline, which Apple called Dynamic Island. This is an interactive space that can expand in certain scenarios – for example, when someone calls, the user plugs in a charger or headphones.

The case of smartphones is made of stainless steel, and the front part is covered with Ceramic Shield glass. The displays are up to 1600 nits of brightness – that’s Pro Display XDR level. Apple has also added an Always-On display feature, and thanks to the low power mode, the screen can refresh the image at a frequency of only 1 Hz. The maximum, again, is 120 Hz.

At the heart of smartphones is the new Apple A16 processor with 16 billion transistors, manufactured using a 4nm process. The chip has 6 cores (two high-performance and four energy efficient), and the graphics accelerator has five. There is also a 16-core NPU capable of processing 17 trillion operations per second. The system includes a co-processor for AoD operation as well as a separate image processor.

iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are the first Apple smartphones equipped with a 48-megapixel camera with the function of combining four neighboring pixels into one, larger one with a size of 2.44 microns, that is, by default they will take pictures in 12 MP mode. Apple has also added a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra wide-angle lens used for macro photography. Smartphones can record 4K video at 30fps and support 48MP ProRAW shooting.

Like the base iPhone 14, the firmware can detect accidents and automatically call for help, and also allows you to make emergency satellite calls when you don’t have access to a cellular network. The latter service will initially be available in the US and Canada from November 2022.

Price for iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max

The iPhone 14 Pro will start at $999 and the 14 Pro Max will start at $1,099. The pre-sale will begin on September 9, and smartphones will hit store shelves from September 16 this year.
