Let’s fast-forward to 2020: Sanctioned Chinese tech giant Huawei is releasing its latest line of business flagships, the Mate 40, while MediaTek is unveiling a flagship processor for the first time in years: the Dimensity 1000+.
This news came to us as if from that time, but no, we checked everything – just the day before yesterday, the Chinese company TD Tech, which is a joint venture between Huawei and Nokia (not HMD, but Nokia itself), re-released the basic version of the Mate 40 flagship on the Dimensity chipset 1000+. The strange novelty was called TD Tech M40.
In addition to the chipset, the TD Tech M40 has two more differences from the Huawei Mate 40: the main camera sensor (64 MP instead of 50 MP) and the disappearance of wireless charging.
Otherwise, this is the same smartphone – in the same dimensions, with the same screen and the same battery. There is even support for a number of proprietary Huawei technologies such as NM card and Histen.
