The IFA 2022 exhibition in Berlin is slowly gaining momentum, and major companies have begun to announce new smartphones. The Japanese were the first to do this with the introduction of the Sony Xperia 5 IV , a compact flagship with an advanced camera for creating photos and video content.
The Sony Xperia 5 series is generally considered to be the little brother of the Xperia 1 line of devices, aiming to offer similar features in a smaller size. Everything is the same here – no surprises, the Sony Xperia 5 IV draws a lot of inspiration from the twin model Sony Xperia 1 IV.
The phone features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Mobile gamers will be pleased with the fact that the matrix responds to touches at a frequency of 240 Hz, which allows us to talk about a fairly significant advantage in games that this smartphone will give. Fast tap registration is just as fast shooting, like in PUBG Mobile.
Corresponding to the premium status, the novelty has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor under the hood, which works in conjunction with 8/128 GB of memory. At the same time, unlike many flagships, the Xperia 5 IV is equipped with a minijack and a slot for microSD memory cards with a capacity of up to 1 TB. The device will be sold with Android 12 on board. Sony is promising two major operating system updates as well as three years of security patch updates.
The photo capabilities of the Sony Xperia 5 IV are represented by a 12 MP triple camera, where the main sensor is made up of an ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto module. One of the features of the phone is the ability to record video in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, and then play these videos with five times slowdown. In addition, cameras can focus on eyes in real time, as well as analyze depth using artificial intelligence. The main module and telephoto lens also received optical image stabilization.
The battery capacity is an impressive 5000 mAh, support for 30-watt fast and wireless charging is declared. Sony promises that the battery will work without wear and tear for three years, but unfortunately, the smartphone comes with a very modest package: it does not include any cable or charger.
For Sony Xperia 5 IV, support for surround sound and codecs is announced that improves the sound quality of tracks when listening to streaming services. Another feature is the proprietary Music Pro application, in which the user can remove extraneous noise from audio and video recordings. Also in the future they promise to add support for the Bluetooth LE Audio codec.
