In Brazil

Samsung has faced backlash over its decision to remove chargers from the box of its flagship smartphones. Consumer groups in Brazil are suing the company.

Samsung stopped including chargers in the box starting with the flagship Galaxy S21 series in 2021. Apple was the first to make this decision.

Both companies cite environmental reasons, but many customers are unhappy, especially considering flagship phone prices haven’t changed much.

More than 900 Procon departments could sue Samsung and Apple, according to the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Procon is the consumer protection fund in the country.

Apple had previously paid a BRL 10.5 million fine to Procon in Sao Paulo.
