For the first time in the history of the Oscars, the Academy presented an award for the best film according to the audience. Zack Snyder’s blockbuster “Army of the Dead”, filmed for Netflix, won the open vote.
The present presentation of awards was remembered by the incident with Will Smith. The actor slapped host Chris Rock on stage for making a joke about his wife. The comedian joked about the “amazing, very short hairstyle” of Will Smith’s wife, who now suffers from alopecia, an autoimmune disease that leads to hair loss. Smith came on stage and punched him in the face, then returned to his seat and yelled “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth” twice.
