It’s all about frequency
Three new processors have been spotted in the UserBenchmark benchmark – Intel Core i7-12650HX, Intel Core i9-12900HX and Intel Core i9-12950HX. It became clear what kind of performance they could offer.
As it turns out, 2022 Alder Lake-HX mobile processors can beat even the best 2021 Rocket Lake desktop processors.
Surprisingly, it’s the Intel Core i7-12650HX that packs the biggest punch, ranking 12th in the UserBenchmark.
The 14-core, 20-thread mobile chip scored 104%, while the 16-core and 24-thread i9-12950HX and i9-12900HX ranked 15th and 19th, respectively, with a score of 102%.
This appears to be due to the fact that the i7 processor was able to achieve a higher average clock speed during testing. The i7-12650HX ran at a mid-range of 4.05 GHz in turbo mode, while all i9 samples ran at 3.6-3.8 GHz.
