Is the terminator already here? Human cells grown on the skeleton of a robot

And they grew so much better

Trying to improve the cultivation of organs from living cells, scientists used a robotic arm.

The fact is that for the normal growth of the cartilaginous tissue of the joints and tendons, constant loads, stretching and flexion are needed.

That is why scientists use automation. Recently, the researchers decided to use an anthropomorphic robot for this purpose, or rather the shoulder joint.

During the work, the scientists placed human cells on elastic plastic substrates. They were fixed in an artificial shoulder joint for 14 days. For half an hour a day, the robot simulated various movements. This made it possible to obtain the necessary loads on the growing tissue.

It turned out that under such conditions the cells grow faster. In addition, there are differences in the profiles of genetic activity. Scientists plan to improve this method.
