Everyone who was waiting for dramatic changes from iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 was unlikely to be satisfied, because both updates turned out to be modest in terms of innovations.
However, Apple continued to refine the OS after the release, and recently added a couple of useful features. One of them is setting the microphone modes. Previously, it was available only in some applications for voice communication, but in iOS 15 the function was integrated at the system level, and now it works with Internet calls through any application (Telegram, WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime).
The nuance is that the function is not located in the “Settings”. It appears directly during the call. You need to make a call in some application, open the curtain (“Control Center”), tap on the microphone icon and select the “Voice Isolation” mode.
Thus, the phone will begin to filter out extraneous sounds so that the interlocutor can hear your voice better. This is useful when talking outdoors or in noisy environments.
Note that the feature is only available on devices with A12 Bionic processor and newer. In the case of the iPhone, this is the iPhone XS and later models, in the case of the iPad, it is the Air 3 / Mini 5. Users also report that some applications do not yet support “Voice Isolation”. In this case, you need to wait until the software developers integrate it.
