Google shuts down popular smartphone app

Google shuts down

On the Play Store fronts, it will soon become one less popular app. Google has officially announced that it is going to cover up YouTube Go – this is an analogue of the YouTube application, a “light” version for owners of budget smartphones with weak hardware and a small amount of RAM.

The company does not name the exact reasons for this decision, but you can guess about them. The technical characteristics of even cheap devices are growing from year to year, and a lot of resources have to be spent on supporting the Google application.

Yes, and functionally YouTube Go left much to be desired – truncated features prevent users from leaving comments on videos, publishing or editing their videos. The application does not have a dark design theme, which its “big brother” has long had.

YouTube Go will finally leave Google Play in August this year. As an alternative, Google offers to install the regular YouTube app or use its web version from a browser. The company claims that it has worked on optimization, and now the video hosting application will become much more comfortable to use for people with budget smartphones or a poor Internet connection.
