Experts have calculated the cost of the iPhone 14 Pro. How Much Does Apple Make?

Share

Apple products are not cheap. It was all the more interesting to find out what the real cost of one iPhone for hardware is. Without taking into account the development and research costs invested in the price, OS support, marketing, and the very “brand markup”. The Japanese publication Nikkei, whose journalists have already calculated everything, undertook to shed light on the question.

The subject of their interest was the latest and most expensive iPhone 14 Pro Max. The journalists found out how much all its components cost separately and added up the result. And it turned out that Apple’s latest flagship cost the company $501, despite the fact that retail prices for a smartphone start at $1,099. More than doubled.

Interestingly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max turned out to be the most expensive smartphone to manufacture during the entire existence of the brand. The cost of its components is 20% more than last year’s iPhone 13 Pro Max. The main reason for this rise in price is the new A16 Bionic chipset, which costs $110 to manufacture, which is more than 2.4 times more expensive than the A15 Bionic. I had to spend money on a 48-megapixel camera sensor, it came out 50% more expensive.

It is all the more curious that the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs exactly the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max cost a year ago. Apple decided to keep the price tag despite the increased production costs. The Apple company turned out to be not as greedy as many might think.
