Hollywood actor, Bruce Willis, 67, has been diagnosed with aphasia – a brain condition. He will be quitting acting, his family has announced.

Bruce’s daughter, Rumer, shared the sad news on Wednesday via her instagram page. Posting a photo of her dad with a pretty revealing caption about his health.

In the statement she posted to social media, she said:

To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

‘As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

She goes on to explain how this is a really challenging time for the Willis family. Also, that they appreciate the compassion and messages of support.

This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit. Wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

‘As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.

According to the National Aphasia Association, Aphasia impacts the ability to comprehend words and/or speak. It can be caused by strokes, tumors or other brain damage, particularly in older individuals. Rumer isn’t saying what led to Bruce’s diagnosis.

Bruce Willis hasn’t been in many mainstream productions lately. However, he’s still been busy … acting in more than a dozen movies in the last 2 years.
