Full Biography of Blake Shelton

A massive surge of interest in country music arose in 1980 after the premiere of the melodrama Urban Cowboy starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. Blake Tolison Shelton was a young boy living in Oklahoma at the time of the film’s release. Now the vocalist is one of the ten most popular and highly paid country artists in the world.

Childhood and youth

Blake was born on June 18, 1976 in the town of Ada, located in southeastern Oklahoma and known as the small home of country star Anthony Armstrong Jones. The boy’s mother, Dorothy Shelton, owned a beauty salon, and his father, Richard, owned a used car dealership.

From early childhood, Blake Shelton began to sing, and by the age of 12, his uncle taught the guy to play the guitar. At the age of 15, the teenager composed his first song, and at 16 he received the Denbo Diamond Award in his home state.

The early biography of Shelton Jr. was overshadowed by the death in a car accident on November 1990 of 24-year-old brother Richie. In 2012, Blake Shelton, along with his then wife, country singer Miranda Lambert, composed and performed the song Over You, dedicated to the memory of the deceased relative and sunk into the hearts of many listeners.

At the age of 17, Shelton moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he began recording songs in a professional studio. In 1997, with the help of country composer and producer Bobby Braddock, the Ada native landed a contract with Sony Music.

The Hot Country Songs, a weekly list of fifty of the most popular country songs in the United States, included more than 30 songs performed by Blake Shelton, including 24 tracks that topped the chart.

The single Over, written by Paul Jenkins and David Eliot Johnson and included in the 6th studio album of Blake Shelton, Red River Blue, brought worldwide popularity to the singer. Blake Shelton was inducted into the Oklahoma State Hall of Fame in 2014.

Blake Shelton is known as the mentor of the television project The Voice. From the moment the vocal competition satrted in the spring of 2011 to May 2021, Blake’s wards became the winners of the show 8 times.

Personal life

In his youth, Blake Shelton married Kayneth Gern, but three years later the youthful marriage ended in divorce. In 2005, Blake met Miranda Lambert and after 4 years of dating, with the blessing of Richard Shelton, proposed to the colleague.

The marriage with the singer lasted 4 years and ended in the same way as the first. The former spouses released a joint statement in which they asked journalists and fans for empathy and non-interference in their personal lives. In 2015, the country singer began dating Gwen Stefani.

In 2017, Blake, who is 196 cm tall, was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine, becoming the second musician in history after Adam Levine to be awarded this title. It is curious that Blake Shelton and Levine are connected by a long-standing bromance – a close male friendship that does not have sexual overtones (as between Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto , Usher and Justin Bieber ).

Blake Shelton, is involved in charity work. So, in September 2016, the country singer donated $600,000 to the University of Oklahoma Medical College Hospital, where his great-niece was being treated for blood cancer.

Later, Blake created a charitable foundation in his name in this medical institution. In April 2020, the musician transferred $ 150,000 to a fund that helped feed Americans affected by the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Blake Shelton now

In May 2021, Blake Shelton released his 12th studio album, Body Language, which contains 12 tracks. The song “Happiness is everywhere” Blake performed a duet with Gwen Stefani, and the video for the song was shot by the singer’s brother Tod, using home videos of a couple in love.

However, the main event of the year of the Blue Bull for the country musician was the marriage to Stephanie. Blake and Gwen got married at the groom’s ranch in Oklahoma on July 3, 2021. The ceremony was hosted by a colleague of the newlyweds on The Voice show Carson Daly.

The 51-year-old bride appeared before the wedding guests in turn in two white dresses from designer Vera Wang. In the first outfit with a long hem and a deep neckline, Stephanie is captured in a photo that Shelton posted on his Instagram account.

The newlywed’s veil was embroidered with their names with the groom, as well as the names of Gwen’s children, born in a previous marriage to musician Gavin Rossdale. The second wedding dress of the bride was a white mini-dress with embroidered doves, symbolizing the newlyweds, and three chicks, personifying the sons of the singer.
