Who is Avicii? (Biography)

Avicii, (born Tim Bergling), was Born on September 8, 1989 in Stockholm (Sweden). Died April 20, 2018 in Muscat (Oman). Swedish DJ and music producer. He was also known under the pseudonyms: Tim Berg and Tom Hangs.

Early life 

Avicii was born on September 8, 1989 in Stockholm. He began his career by remixing the theme song from the video game Lazy Jones and later recorded his own track “Lazy Lace“, which was soon released by Strike Recordings.

His music influences include Leidback Luke, Steve Angello, Tocadisco, Daft Punk, Eric Prydz and Axwell. After winning Pete Tong’s Fast Trax program, Avicii received many offers and in April 2008 released the track “Manman” on Tonga’s label Bedroom Bedlam.

Rise to Fame

In the summer of 2011, British singer Leona Lewis presented the song “Collide”. The instrumental component of which was an excerpt from the Avicii track “Penguin”, which he has been performing at concerts since the end of 2010.

Sampling permission was not obtained, and after a scandal with allegations of plagiarism and threats of litigation, Lewis’s single was released with Avicii credited as co-writer.

In the autumn of the same year, his single “Levels” became an international hit: in the UK, Austria and Germany, he managed to enter the top ten, and in his native Sweden, the DJ for the first time took the top of the chart.

This track was also the basis for Flow Rida’s “Good Feeling”, which was very popular all over the world and occupied a leading position in the music charts.

In DJ Magazine’s 2011 rankings, Avicii rose from 39th to sixth place, and the following year he entered the top three.

At the 54th Grammy Awards, he and David Guetta were nominated in the Best Dance Recording category for their collaborative track “Sunshine”.

He stopped touring two years before his death due to health problems.

Avicii’s death

The DJ died on April 20, 2018 at the age of 29 in Oman. The cause of death was pancreatitis, with which he struggled for a long time. The death was reported by his advertising agent Diana Baron.

According to Baron, Bergling was found dead on April 20. He was in Oman. Shortly before his death, he became a nominee for another Billboard Music Award in the category of best album of electronic or dance music with Billboard Music.
