Possibly for flexible iPhones
According to a prominent analyst, Apple has yet to release a line of foldable devices as it is testing various display technologies for them, including e-ink.
The introduction of e-ink technology may be a few years away, and Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple is testing it for foldable iPhones and iPads.
The company probably has various prototypes, one of which includes an additional display. Kuo says the e-ink technology could be used for the front panel, but the main screen would use something better.
The reason the secondary panel will use e-ink technology is due to its energy saving properties. Important notifications, clocks, etc. can be displayed on the external display without sacrificing battery life.
