For both CPU and GPU
AMD has released a release schedule for new CPU and GPU architectures over the next few years.
It is known that the new Ryzen 7000 series of processors will be based on the Zen 4 architecture. It promises an improvement in single-threaded performance by more than 15% and an increase in IPC by 8-10%.
Processors will also become more energy efficient. The first desktop and server processors made using the 5nm process technology on the Zen4 architecture should appear later this year.
Notebook chips will be produced on TSMC’s 4nm technology.
As for Zen 5, it is described as “an entirely new microarchitecture”, but there are few details about this. The company said that processors with it will be produced in both 4nm and 3nm process technology. The first Zen 5 chips are expected in 2024.
The next major GPU architecture, RDNA 3, will be manufactured on a 5nm process and will be the first to use a chiplet design.
