Amazon announced the launch of the delivery of goods by drones

The path to be long and thorny

For the past 10 years or so, Amazon has been sharing plans to launch drone delivery in the future. And now, apparently, the company is finally ready to move from words to deeds.

Representatives of the largest US online store announced the start of delivery of goods by drones in the California town of Lockford. Until the end of 2022, residents of the city will be able to receive parcels with goods.

Amazon says there are “thousands of options” available for unusual shipping. At the same time, it is important to note that we are most likely talking about not too heavy loads weighing no more than a couple of kilograms.

It should be noted that the initiative may be canceled in the event of a ban by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Recall that the initial announcement of such a service was made back in 2013 by the former head of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. Since then, the Prime Air vertical takeoff drone has received a full redesign.
