Tomorrow, Qualcomm will present Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, which will form the basis of most flagship smartphones in the second half of 2022.

The informant Digital Chat Station decided to get ahead of the events, declassifying the operating frequencies and comparing the creation of TSMC from the current 8 Gen 1, produced by Samsung.

The architecture of the cores has not changed, but all of them have had their operating frequencies increased by 0.2 GHz: the super-powerful Cortex-X2 core now operates at 3.2 GHz, the Cortex-A710 trio at 2.7 GHz, and the energy-efficient Cortex-A510 at 2.0 GHz. The graphics accelerator will be the old Adreno 730.

The source notes that according to “official data” power consumption has been reduced by ±30 and energy efficiency has been improved by the same amount, but emphasizes that it is better to wait for the first tests of real devices.

Fortunately, you won’t have to wait long for them – it is likely that the first smartphones on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be presented in June.
